Don't Turn Your Back!

It can be hard sometimes to know how to act,

What to do,

What to say,

When we see someone in a wheelchair,

On crutches,

Or with other visible disabilities.

I know I used to feel like that,

Until I was actually in a wheelchair.

I am the same person,

But I get treated differently now.

I still have the same smile,

But others don't.

We are people too! 

Real people,

With real feelings,

With real emotions.
We sometimes get stuck on ramps, or steps, or in the sand,
Even in doorways!
So don’t turn your back,

Say hello, 

Smile,

Don’t turn away!
